A disturbing infant trafficking case has surfaced in Telangana’s Medak district, where a hospital nurse allegedly sold a newborn baby girl after falsely informing the mother that the child had died soon after birth.

Police arrested four people in connection with the case, including the nurse, an alleged intermediary and the couple accused of purchasing the infant. Authorities confirmed that the baby was rescued safely during the investigation.

The incident involved Nasra Fatima, a pregnant woman from Lakshminagar Thanda in Papannapet mandal. According to police officials, she was travelling to Secunderabad to visit relatives when an unexpected incident forced her to seek emergency medical care in Medak.

Investigators said Fatima was reportedly attacked by monkeys after they noticed a packet of chips in her hand. During the incident, she allegedly lost balance, fell and suffered heavy bleeding. A friend immediately shifted her to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Doctors later performed surgery, following which she delivered a baby girl. However, the family was allegedly informed by nurse Aktari Begum that the newborn had died shortly after delivery.

A few days after returning home from the hospital, Fatima reportedly received information from an unknown person claiming that her child was actually alive. The message raised suspicion among family members, prompting them to approach the police.

During the investigation, police discovered that the infant had allegedly been handed over to a woman identified as Nasin Unnisa, who later sold the baby to a couple from Siddipet identified as Mohammed Iqbaluddin and Nadiya Sultana for Rs.1.5 lakh.

Police later tracked down the infant and rescued the child safely. Officials confirmed that all four accused were taken into custody and further investigation is continuing to uncover additional details related to the case.
