Adoption charity calls on Bracknell families to adopt | Bracknell News
Audience and Content Editor
An adoption charity is encouraging families to consider the life-changing journey of parenthood.
Parents And Children Together (PACT), an adoption charity and trauma recovery support provider, is calling on people living in and around Bracknell to consider adopting and providing a permanent, loving home for a child in need.
The charity, rated outstanding by Ofsted in 2014, 2017, and 2023, focuses on finding families for children who are often harder to place, including sibling groups, children over the age of three, those with additional needs, and children from diverse backgrounds.
Grace Gomez, adopter diversity recruitment officer at PACT, said: “Most people already have the qualities to be a great parent.
“People who want to adopt usually have the skills and attributes needed to change the course of a child’s life.
“At PACT we offer lifelong support and adoption is incredibly rewarding.”
Last year, PACT helped 63 children find permanent homes through adoption.
The charity welcomes enquiries from people of all backgrounds, including singles, married couples, and those in long-term relationships.
There is no upper age limit, and people who rent, have children, or are living with health conditions are all encouraged to consider adoption.
Andrew and Simon, a couple who adopted siblings aged four and five through PACT, shared their experience.
Andrew said: “We are a male couple and had lots of conversations about having children.
“We wanted to give a forever home to children who had a rough start to life.”
Andrew said: “We had our social worker holding our hands throughout – that was invaluable.”
Mark said: “Our children have got such a lovely connection.
“You can see a really strong relationship between them.”
PACT offers lifelong support to adopters and encourages anyone interested in learning more to contact their team for a friendly, no-pressure conversation.
The charity’s enquiries line is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10am to 5pm, Tuesday and Thursday from 10am to 8pm, and Saturday from 10am to 1pm.
