A moment of quiet compassion at Peelibanga Railway Station turned an unsettling scene into a story of humanity when two minor brothers, apparently abandoned by their father, were rescued and cared for by the police.

The children, Ravi and Vishal, both around six to seven years old, were spotted wandering in a distressed state on the railway platform. Witnesses said the boys appeared frightened and hungry after their father, identified as Kalu Ram, reportedly left them at the station and boarded a train alone.

Concerned locals alerted the police, prompting SHO Jagdish Prasad and ASI Hari Ram Sharma to rush to the station.

The officers found the children sitting on a bench at the platform, visibly shaken. Their clothes were worn and dusty, and tears streaked their faces.

The police first ensured the boys were fed, arranging meals from the station canteen. SHO Prasad sounded the Child Welfare Committee.

In a gesture that moved onlookers, the officers also bought new clothes for the children. Initially hesitant, the boys gradually warmed up to the officers as they were given food, fruit and chocolates. Their fear slowly gave way to smiles.

Beyond providing immediate care, the police also initiated formal procedures for the children’s welfare. After completing the legal formalities, the boys were sent to Hanumangarh, where arrangements are being made for their rehabilitation and education at a children’s home.

Police have recorded details shared by the children about their father and further investigation is under way.
