Hazaribag: A newborn girl was found abandoned in bushes near the Dharampur health sub-centre in Tatijharia block of Hazaribag district on Saturday morning.

Sources said villagers noticed unusual movement and heard the cries of a newborn in the bushes early Saturday.

Dharampur resident Birendra Halwai rescued the baby. After providing initial care at his residence, mukhiya representative Ashok Yadav arranged a vehicle for the baby to be taken to Sadar Hospital, where she is under treatment.

Tatijharia block development officer-cum-circle officer (BDO-cum-CO) Rashmi Khushboo Minz said, “The newborn has been handed over to the Child Welfare Committee (CWC), Hazaribag.”
