During this session, we will be discussing the impact of adoption in the school environment, and we will be focusing upon:
The workshop will be helpful for parents of children in the primary school years, as well as parents who are beginning to consider their child’s secondary school placement. It will be a great space for you to connect with other parents facing similar experiences, and to gain additional tools for your parenting toolkit.
While the workshop is geared to parents whose children are already in placement, we encourage parents to attend who are preparing for their child’s arrival home in England.
Parenting secondary school aged children (11+) can be a really tricky job, and many parents find it frustrating and challenging. Hormonal changes, new schools, new friends, peer influence, bullying, the influence of social media, and the pressure to conform all make this
time of life hard for teenagers and parents alike. Adoptive parents also have additional
concerns as their children process further the meaning of being adopted.
There will be time for discussion but with a focus on:
Guidance on how to obtain the Right to Abode with a full guidance booklet which will be shared after the session.
A session on how to surrender the child’s Indian passport and seek British nationality with a full guidance booklet which will be shared after the session.Â
