A Texas woman broke down in tears as she was reunited with her long-lost brother after decades of searching for her family.
Content creator Blair Clark — who films multiple reunions on his and his wife Leah’s YouTube channel, The Leah and Blair Slog — ended up getting a surprise of his own after taking an at-home DNA test.
Blair, who grew up on the Scottish island of Islay, had no idea he had an older half-sister, Fiona Vaughan, 66, who had been placed for adoption as a baby.
As explained in the couple’s recent YouTube video, having a baby out of wedlock was thought to be taboo in Britain at the time — especially in the three decades after World War II. Vaughan was among the babies placed through an adoption agency.

Blair shared in the video that his “fantastic” mother, Isabel Clark, who died in 1999 at age 59, had “pain” in her eyes when he was young, recalling thinking that she was “pining or crying for something or someone.”
Isabel, who was born in Glasgow, Scotland, got pregnant at age 19 and had been forced to place her daughter for adoption, according to a press release obtained by PEOPLE.
Blair said in the YouTube video that it was just him and his two brothers, Ian and Stewart, growing up. However, he was thrilled to learn he had a half-sister after taking the DNA test.
“What? I’m in shock right now,” Blair, who lives in the Philippines, said after seeing the results.

Blair messaged Vaughan, who responded, and told him about her past in the video.
“My adoptive parents told me that I was adopted at a very young age, so I feel as though I knew all my life that I was adopted,” Vaughan, from Austin, Texas, said.
She admitted her birthdays were “hard” as she was often wondering whether her parents were thinking of her.

However, she said she figured she was placed for adoption, not because she “wasn’t loved.” Instead, she believed it was just because of circumstances.
Vaughan, who has two daughters, Sarah and Laura, said she’d taken the test around five years ago.
A couple of days after the DNA results, Blair and Vaughan had a reunion on Zoom.
Vaughan said she’d been “nervous” before the meeting, adding that she’d been “waiting a long time for somebody to reach out.”
“It’s awesome … I’m so so happy,” Blair said, as Vaughan insisted, “I feel the same way.”
“I’m just trying to hold it all together … you have no idea how I feel on the inside,” she said, getting emotional.
The siblings are now set to reunite in person for the first time in Bangkok on Tuesday, Sept. 22.
