Are you a qualified children and families social worker with experience in adoption assessment and support? Are you interested in expanding your knowledge of intercountry adoption?

We are seeking to build up a valued and trusted network of Independent Social Workers to support the service delivery of our internal social work team. We are looking for experienced social workers to carry out independent adoption assessments and potentially support the family through the family finding process and beyond.

We would particularly like to hear from you if you have experience of writing in-depth and complex assessment reports and a good understanding of relationship based social work approaches such as DDP, supporting adopters to learn about therapeutic parenting approaches and experience of intercountry adoption (although this is not essential).

We offer regular consultation, case supervision and support to our independent social workers with opportunities for practice development and training either face to face or virtually. You would have access to our Solihull office and resources.

As we are operating nationally, we would be particularly interested to hear from people who are willing to work in areas outside of the midlands where our existing staff team is based.

Applicants must be self-motivated, able to work within deadlines and be flexible in meeting the needs of the prospective adoptive parents and the agency. Substantial experience within adoption work and writing robust assessment reports is essential.

We offer competitive rates and a flexible approach that we hope will create a happy working relationship that mutually benefits our social workers, our agency and most importantly our families. Applicants must be able to travel independently to face to face assessment sessions and our head office as necessary.

Bring your values. Bring your experience. Help us build a service that supports families with dignity, respect and hope.

We are seeking to appoint experienced and committed individuals to join our Adoption Central List and serve as Adoption Panel Members.

This role is central to ensuring high‑quality, evidence‑based decision‑making for children and prospective adopters. Panel Members provide independent scrutiny of assessments, review detailed reports, and contribute to thoughtful, well‑reasoned recommendations regarding the suitability of prospective adoptive parents.

Applicants must be able to demonstrate either professional experience within adoption work or personal experience of adoption, enabling them to bring informed insight and a child‑centred perspective to panel discussions. We are looking for individuals who are self‑motivated, reliable and able to work within deadlines, with the flexibility to meet the needs of prospective adopters and the agency. Strong analytical skills and the ability to evaluate complex information are essential, alongside the confidence to contribute constructively to panel deliberations. Previous experience of sitting on an adoption panel is desirable, although not essential.

We offer regular consultation and professional support to all panel members, including access to the Panel Adviser and opportunities for reflective practice. Our agency is committed to ongoing development, and panel members benefit from training, regulatory updates and a structured induction designed to ensure clarity and confidence in the role

If you have the experience, insight and commitment to contribute to adoption decision‑making we invite you to contact us for further information, please email vacancies@adoptionis4u.com.

Have you been impacted by adoption and have you considered sharing your story?

A4U is a space for sharing real adoption experiences told by adoptive parents, adopted children, birth parents, and anyone touched by adoption. Every story matters, whether joyful, complicated, unfinished, or still finding the right words.

By listening to each other, we can build understanding, connection, and community. You’re welcome to share your story in the way that feels most natural to you.

Prompts to help:

  • We know starting your story can feel vulnerable. There’s no “right” way to begin — just start where it feels natural. If it helps, here are a few gentle prompts to guide you:
  • When did adoption first become part of your life, and what do you remember about that time?
  • What feelings come up when you think about your journey today?
  • Was there a moment that changed everything for you? What was that like?
  • What has this experience taught you about yourself?
  • Who or what helped you through the hardest parts?
  • How has adoption shaped your understanding of family, love, or belonging?
  • If you could share one thing with someone walking a similar path, what would you want them to know?

When you’re ready to share, simply email your story to stories@adoptionis4u.com. Once we receive it, our team will follow up with a few brief questions to help us better understand and honour your story.

Thank you for trusting us with your story. We’re truly honoured and look forward to hearing from you.

If you feel that you have the appropriate skills and experience and wish to find out more about applying to work with us, please email vacancies@adoptionis4u.com.
