A newborn baby was found abandoned near Bengali Bridge in Block Makhu of Assembly Constituency Zira in Ferozepur at night. The child was abandoned near the bridge by an unknown person. On receiving the information, the police reached the spot and took the newborn into their custody. After this, the police handed over the child to the woman sarpanch of the village for the care. Expressing concern over the incident, police officials said it was “very wrong and inhumane” to leave a newborn child unattended. The matter is being investigated by the police and efforts are being made to identify the person who abandoned the child.
