Newborn rescued from Ranchi drain dies after 10-hour fight for life

Ranchi, Jul 27 (PTI) A newborn boy rescued alive from a drain in Jharkhand’s Ranchi died during treatment after battling for life for around 10 hours, police said on Monday.

The baby was rescued from the drain in Harmu Bazar under Argora police station limits on Saturday morning and rushed to a nearby private hospital, Argora police station’s officer-in-charge Satish Kumar said.

He said, “The newborn was later shifted to another hospital for specialised treatment, where he died after battling for life for over 10 hours.” A thorough investigation has been initiated to trace those who dumped the baby in the drain. Information has also been sought from nursing homes and hospitals,” the police officer said. PTI RPS RPS NSD
