Hyderabad, Aug 1 (PTI) Police on Saturday said they rescued a month-old baby girl after foiling an attempt to sell her here.

The baby’s mother, allegedly driven by financial distress, had asked a woman to act as mediator and sell the infant to a childless couple, police said.

The mediator was reportedly negotiating a price of Rs 3 lakh for the month-old girl.

Acting on a tip-off, police rescued the baby on Friday evening, they said, adding that further investigation was underway. PTI SJR SSK
