My darling, come fast, come near,
I’ve stories to tell, lend me your ear,
of kids who wandered far and wide,
then found a home with love inside.
Babies grow in tummies, it’s true,
some come in ways strange, shiny, and new.
You came to us in a different way,
straight into our hearts,
and that’s where you stay!
Paddington Bear from darkest Peru,
crossed the ocean as brave bears do.
In a blue duffle coat, he came alone,
Till the Browns said, “come on home dear.”
“There’s room, there’s a bed and marmalade here.”
Simba wandered with sadness and fear,
thinking, “is there a place for me here?”
“Hakuna Matata!” sang Pumbaa, so loud.
“That means no more worries!” sang Timon, so proud.
And slowly, oh slowly, Simba stood tall,
a king doesn’t hide, a king isn’t small.
Mowgli ran through the jungle green,
the wildest boy you’ve ever seen.
The wolves howled, “you’re one of us.”
Loving him completely,
without a fuss.
Dorothy spun through the sky one day,
a tornado carrying her far away.
She found friends who said, “come through,
the Yellow Brick Road is long,
but we’ll walk with you.”
Kal-El fell from stars above,
crash-landing right into a family’s love.
The Kents said, “you are our son,
we’re glad you’ve come.”
Beneath the Kansas skies,
they raised Superman strong and wise.
Harry lived in a cupboard so small,
Till Hagrid came on a midnight call.
“Yer a wizard, Harry,” the giant said,
“There’s a whole great world ahead.”
At Hogwarts, he found a trusted crew;
they said, “we’ve saved a place for you.”
Moses floated down the Nile,
In a basket, mile by mile.
The Pharaoh’s daughter saw him there
and gently lifted him with care.
She held him close and said, “don’t fear,
from now on, you’ll be safe right here.”
Peter Parker so quiet, so bright,
His Aunt May said, “be kind, do what’s right,
even when it’s the harder fight.”
He carried that through every plan,
And grew to be Spider-Man.
Tarzan swung through jungle vines,
past giant leaves and tangled pines.
“Why am I different?” he asked one day.
Kala said, “that’s okay”.
”Love’s not fur and love’s not skin,
love’s the thing we hold within.”
In a galaxy far away,
Luke watched twin suns set every day.
Aunt Beru smiled and said, “just wait,
the world is bigger beyond that gate.”
She helped him dream and helped him see,
the boy he was, the man he’d be.
Oliver Twist, so hungry, so small,
trapped in a world not kind at all.
A gentle hand reached out one day
and made his worries drift away.
“Young Oliver, you can stay with me.”
and gave him love and family.
Sophie lived all on her own,
Without a place to call her home.
The BFG said, “come dream with me,
there’s more to you than you can see.”
They chased dreams all through the night,
And woke to a brighter world in sight.
Matilda read both day and night,
Books her shelter and delight.
Miss Honey said, “be proud, be you,
The world’s much better because of you.”
She took her hand and helped her see,
Just how loved a child could be.
All these stories, old and new,
of bears and giants and wizards too,
Have one small thing running through:
Someone looked and softly said,
“I’ve been waiting just for you.”
One day you’ll ask me how it starts,
How children find their way to hearts.
I’ll tell you,
“some by tummy,
some by chance,
some by stork
or circumstance.”
But every story, old and new,
Begins with someone loving you.
So climb the hills and chase the skies,
Ask one hundred thousand whys.
Be gentle, brave, and full of fun,
and know,
wherever life may run,
you’ll always be my little one.
And when you’re big, and I am old,
and all these stories have been told,
if you’re ever lost or feeling small
or wondering where you fit at all,
come back and read these tales once more,
and meet the ones who’ve been there before.
