Happy Mahashivratri.

Mahashivratri is celebrated on the day when Lord Shiva saved the world by drinking poison that emerged from the ocean. This poison was stored in his throat resulting in his throat becoming blue.

We started our day celebrating the mighty Shiva by doing a few activities.

We read the amazing Shiva book by Sunita Mistry Shah.

Followed by chanting Om Namah Shivay and singing the Om Triyumbakam mantra.

The Triyumbakam Mantra is:

Om Tryambakam Yajamahe
Sugandhim Pushtivardhanam
Urvarukamiva Bandhanan
Mrityor Mukshiya Maamritat

Om Tryambakam Yajamahe
Sugandhim Pushtivardhanam
Urvarukamiva Bandhanan
Mrityor Mukshiya Maamrita

Om Tryambakam Yajamahe
Sugandhim Pushtivardhanam
Urvarukamiva Bandhanan
Mrityor Mukshiya Maamrita

We finished by making our very own Trishuls for the kids mandirs which they absolutely love.
