Abandoned newborn baby dies in Ludhiana; FIR registered | Chandigarh News – The Indian Express

Police said that no injury marks were visible on the newborn’s body.

An FIR has been registered under Sections 315 (act done with intent to prevent child being born alive or to cause it to die after birth) of the IPC against unidentified persons.

An abandoned newborn baby boy, who was found in Bhatiyan Bhet’s Chitti Colony in Ludhiana, passed away at Civil Hospital while undergoing treatment on Friday.

The complainant, Mona Singh told police that her neighbour Sahib Singh had noticed the newborn boy lying abandoned on a heap of garbage near a water tank on Thursday. She reached the spot and alerted the police, who rushed the newborn to the Civil Hospital.

The baby passed away on Friday.

The police initiated an investigation into the matter. Sub-Inspector Harjit Singh, SHO Salem Tabri police station, said the newborn appeared to be one or two-day old and seemed to have been dumped soon after her birth.

He added that no injury marks were visible on his body. The police are scanning CCTV footage, he said, and the body has been sent for postmortem.
